My seeds have come a long way! I don't want to get TOO proud of them; because inevitably some will be eaten by a small mammal or insect. But, I AM pretty excited. Look at them go!

emerging

I went on a hike today with Adam and Maria in Sugar Hollow outside of town. It turned out to be a perfect day for a spring hike and we were able to see many ephemeral flowers. I also took some photos of a tulip poplar bud opening-- the way the leaf unfurls and then folds open is quite elegant.

sprouting!

When I came home from my travels, there was a tiny line of mustard leaves in the vegetable bed. How exciting!

We had a very intense thunderstorm overnight last night, and this morning I examined the bed for news. Indeed, a line of tiny kale leaves emerged, as well as these charming little beet sprouts:
