First garden!
This past week I began my very first proper vegetable garden. It is very exciting-- I can't wait to put seeds in the ground and look out for the first sprouts. This week I built a compost bin(more like a corral, actually), dug two beds, and today I added lime, fertilizer and compost. This week, I am ready to get some cold-hardy seeds in the ground. I already feel more in tune with the world outdoors, which is waking up to spring-- I hear woodpeckers and chickadees every day, saw the first leaves emerging on our tuliptrees, and felt some raindrops today. I am also thinking more about our household ecology-- how our food scraps will soon nourish the soil, and how we might be able to harvest rainwater.
